I am a huge fan of juice cleanses! Anything that makes me feel lighter, helps me have clearer skin and maybe even help drop a pound or two, is good by me.
I had never done the Freshii Juice cleanse before so I was very excited to do the 1-Day Cleanse and see how it stacked up to some of the others I have tried. It did not disappoint!
Freshii Phx supplied the juices and even threw in these awesome insulated carrying cases, so getting the juices home kept them safe from the crazy Arizona heat! I prepared myself for the cleanse by making sure to eat light the day before and drank a TON of water.
Freshii Phx includes a pamphlet which explains what your day will be like and answers some FAQs. The pamphlet encourages that your start each morning with a glass of warm lemon water, and drink a juice every 2.5-3 hours.
The first juice is the Green Genius weighing in at 120 calories. I am not usually a huge fan of green juices, but this one is delicious! The green apple and lemon cut through the spinach, kale and celery flavors and the ginger gives it a little kick at the end.
The second juice of the day is the Renew. This tasty juice only has 100 calories and consists of orange, carrot, lemon and turmeric. I am a huge fan of anything with turmeric as it is so dang good for you and helps with inflammation, however, if you are not a fan of the taste of turmeric, not to worry, it is not the dominant flavor. This one definitely has more of the carrot and lemon flavors peeking through.
The third juice is more a shot rather than an actual juice. The Immune Elixir is only 50 calories and has just 3 ingredients, lemon, ginger and honey. And man! Does it pack a punch! The strong lemon and ginger flavors really got me the first sip, but the gut-benefits of this juice are so worth it. I felt super light after this juice and thankfully it’s small so I was able to drink it in just two gulps.
The fourth juice might be my favorite of the whole cleanse. The Charcoal Lemonade clocks in at only 80 calories and is DELICIOUS! I would absolutely drink this one on a hot Phoenix day just to enjoy the flavor and the benefits. Allow me to geek out for just a moment about Charcoal Lemonade… first of all, this particular one from Freshii contains only filtered water, organic lemon, organic agave nectar, charcoal and is only 80 calories. The benefits of charcoal are numerous; anti-aging, detoxifying, boosts energy, helps lower cholesterol, and some people even say it can cure a hangover. So basically, it’s magic. And it’s tasty. My favorite by far.
The fifth juice is another Green Genius. I enjoyed having another one of these mid-day as I was starting to get pretty hungry.
The sixth juice is called Reset. This juice was super yummy and is made of apple, pineapple, cucumber and mint with 150 calories. I definitely tasted the mint and apple flavors the most. I had this drink a little later than the recommended 2.5-3 hour increments so I was feeling the hunger pangs, and this really hit the spot!
The last juice is the Recharge juice. This juice contains carrot, apple, beet, lemon and ginger. I will be honest; this was not my favorite. It is super tart and at the end of the day I was hoping for something that had a bit more sweetness to satiate me. However, I did feel full afterwards and went to sleep without feeling hungry.
My ultimate takeaway from my Freshii One-Day Juice Cleanse was that afterward I felt clean, light and ready for food, but light food! The next day I wasn’t craving donuts or starchy foods, I really wanted something light and healthy to break the solid-food-fast.
Not that I was doing this cleanse to lose weight, but I did drop about 3lbs! I also felt like my skin and eyes were super clear the next morning. I felt comfortable working out the day of my cleanse, however, if you are doing a cleanse for longer than one-day I would say consult a dietitian or nutritionist about working out.
I truly enjoyed the Freshii Cleanse and would happily do it again! I will also be getting the Charcoal Lemonade drink on a regular basis to enjoy even without doing a cleanse. Cheers friends!
